What?
The Coho Crew is a collective of artists in Philadelphia catalyzing creativity in their community through positive social adventures. The crew is comprised of contemporary artists who, for the love of making, wish to preserve and promote the innovative culture found in their neighborhoods; Fishtown and Northern Liberties.
The name Cohoquinoque surfaced while conducting research on the history of Philadelphia. It was a creek which ran through what is the modern day Callowhill district. The creek was covered in the early 19th century and today is a sewer running beneath Willow Street. The name originates from the Lenape Native Americans who were the original settlers and the first creative makers of this land.
The collective was founded in hopes of creating an environment where artists within our community can interact in a progressive manner that encourages growth of new ideas and exciting events. The Coho Crew’s goals include organizing art exhibits, craft fairs, fashion shows, performances, and community service projects/fundraisers to strengthen and promote our local network of emerging artists and give back to the city through inspiring means.

What a raw deal the Cohoquinoque creek got. I applaud the Crew for giving it some semblence of dignity and positive presence after being reduced to a sewer running under Willow Street. Sometimes you swim in the creek, sometimes the creek swims in you!
